D.R. surprises Costa Rica in Pan American Handball Tournament

Dominican Republic beat easily its Costarrican counterpart with 39-15, to advance to the semi-final of the Pre- World Games Championship and Pan American Senior Handball Games, an event being celebrated in the East Park Pavilion.

With yesterday’s victory, Dominicans set their record with three victories and zero losses.
The Dominican representation will meet its greatest commitment amid the event, when it competes against its Brazilian counterpart, one of the favorites to win the Pan American Championship. If the Dominicans win today, they will face Paraguay, but if they lose, they will compete with Argentina.

The Argentineans relied on a stellar performance by Magdalena Dicilio, with 8 points; Camarena Alonzo and Elka Karsten, with 4 points each. The event features the support of the Dominican Olympic Committee, the Sports Ministry and CRESO.
